On the West Side of St. Paul, Minn., young people are raising vegetables, then transporting and selling them at El Burrito Mercado, four blocks away. It’s about “West Side pride, and leadership development with all these young people in their neighborhood,” says Amanda Stoelb of Youth Farm and Market Project. “It’s about local food, and connecting people to the neighborhood. ” Youth Farm is a partner in the West Side’s Neighborhood Learning Community.
