Lafayette, Colo., near Boulder, has a large population of first and second generation Latino immigrants. It’s also the site of some impressive Public Achievement work.

Students at Centaurus High School worked with students from University of Colorado-Boulder to narrow down issues important to the youth community in Lafayette — such as a place for young people to gather and gang violence — and presented them at a mock city council meeting.

The students will spend another semester working together to develop an action plan around an issue they choose. Read more in the Boulder Daily Camera and Lafayette News.
