A critique of expertise

Our colleague Peter Levine, director of CIRCLE at Tufts University, wrote a reasoned critique of expertise (part 1) on his blog yesterday, concluding that “laypeople often see a particular situation better than experts do,” and that “this point has great significance for how we arrange our politics and will develop it tomorrow.” What are your thoughts?
