June 16, 2010

American Democracy Project logoOver the next few days, Center for Democracy and Citizenship founder and co-director Harry Boyte and Dennis Donovan, national organizer for Public Achievement, will be presenting or facilitating a number of sessions at the American Democracy Project (ADP) national meeting, which begins on Thursday afternoon in Providence, R.I.

Convened by the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, the ADP meeting brings together faculty members, staff, student affairs professionals, students, senior university administrators, community members, and partner organizations to explore the role of universities in preparing the next generation of informed, engaged citizens for our democracy.

Harry Boyte and Dennis Donovan will also help facilitate a pre-conference meeting with participants in the Civic Agency Initiative, an effort involving 21 campuses nationwide in further developing and operationalizing the concept of civic agency. Some of those campuses–including Georgia College and State University and Northern Arizona University–have incorporated Public Achievement  into their curriculum.
